Paper sculptures to celebrate the 100th Year Anniversary
of the Shubert Theatre designed by Paier Students,
Alumni and Professors

Paier College of Art students' 3D window holiday displays at the Shubert Theatre and shops in downtown New Haven, commissioned by the Shubert Theatre,Yale Unversity and the City of New Haven Town Green District. The theme of the project is the celebration of the 100-year Anniversary of the Shubert Theatre. The project was created under the direction of Paier Professor Vladimir Shpitalnik; contributing artists include alumni Janet Croog, Dan Cogan, Daniel Schmidt, Professor Peter Bonadies, Instructor Magge Gagliardi, current students, Molly Gambardella, Emily Cornacchio, Jessica Hart, Carlos Lopez, Steven Duchesne, Erik Blanchard, Aaron Blauvelt, Benjawan Warner, Cariann Dominguez, Vincent Esposito, Kim Krivensky, Gina Dellolio, Sara Zunda, Alexina Faucher, Michael Zabivnik, Peter Smith, Cathryn Kacenski, Mitchell Volta, Peter Cignatta, Sabrina Ferraiolo, Amira Brown, Imani Brown, Cassandra Infante, Carly Franz, Olga Tyurikova, Jessica Amrich, Ashley Novoa, Matthew Ferreira, Ashley Whitham, Sam Deiwert and Michael Rico.

Paier Paper Sculptures Adorn Downtown New Haven

In keeping with the theme of highlighing ten decades of performances at the Shubert Theatre the photographs below show the process of installing the 3D paper sculptures along with some of the completed windows. All of the mentioned plays were performed at the Shubert Theatre. The first performance of "In the Woods," was in May 1989. The first performance of "Peter Pan," was in February 1925. The first performance of "My Fair Lady," was in February 1956. The first performance of "La Cage Aux Folles," was in December 1987. The first performance of "Cats," was in March 1987. The first performance of "Carousel," was in 1945.

The first performance of "A Christmas Carol," was in November 1994. The first performance of "King and I," was in February 1951. The first performance of "Peter Pan,"  was in August 1984. The first performance of "Annie," was in February 1984. The first performance of "Peter Pan," was in February 1925. The first performance of "The Sound of Music," was in February 1959. The first performance of Chicago," in February 1925. The first performance of "Midsummer Night's Dream," was in October 2008.

After a few final touches and journey into New Haven, the seven foot by fourteen foot paper sculpture is safely installed above the front doors of the Shubert Theatre lobby.
